Supreme Court Rejects Ihedioha’s Plea, Imposes N40m Cost On Ozekhome

The Supreme Court rejected Emeka Ihedioha’s plea for a certificate of return as Imo State’s governor, dismissing his claim that Governor Hope Uzodinma was ineligible for the election

Ihedioha argued before the apex Court that  Uzodinma was ineligible for the election, contending that the court had previously declared Uche Nwosu as the rightful candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC)

Justice Tijjani Abubakar, in a Tuesday verdict, deemed the motion unnecessary and vexatious, leading the Supreme Court to dismiss it for lack of merit.

The Supreme Court imposed a cost of N40 million against Mike Ozekhome for initiating the case, as announced in the ruling.

Kanyi Daily recalls that Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had won the 2023 Gubernatorial election in Imo State.
