Supreme Court Upholds Agbu Kefas as Taraba Governor
The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the election victory of Agbu Kefas as Taraba Governor
During the judgment delivery, Justice Lawal Garba dismissed the appeal from the NNPP and its governorship candidate, Yahaya Sani, due to the submission of an incomplete record of appeal.
In a unanimous decision on Thursday, the apex court dismissed Professor Yahaya Sani’s appeal from the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), stating that it lacked merit.
Professor Sani appealed to the apex court, urging it to nullify Governor Agbu’s victory in the March 18, 2023, governorship election, alleging non-compliance with the Electoral Act, irregularities, and other malpractices
He urged the court to declare him the election winner, contending that he secured a majority of the lawful votes cast.
In November, the Court of Appeal in Abuja dismissed Sani’s appeal against the Tribunal’s decision that upheld Kefas’ election.
