Abuja-Kaduna Highway Blocked As Residents Protest Over Bandits Attack

Residents of Goningora community in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State took to the streets on Thursday to protest against recent bandit attacks plaguing their area.

According to Channels Television, the community was targeted by bandits on Wednesday night, resulting in the deaths of two people, including a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force.

Several community members were also abducted, with numerous others sustaining injuries during the assault.

Expressing their anger and frustration over the insecurity, the aggrieved residents blocked the Abuja-Kaduna highway, demanding increased security and protection from the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.

The protest caused significant disruptions, leading to heavy traffic on the Abuja-Kaduna highway, leaving many motorists and travelers stranded.

This recent attack on Goningora community follows previous encounter where soldiers successfully neutralized a notorious bandit leader, Boderi Isyaku, along with some of his associates in the area.

The bandits retaliated during the latest attack by setting an armored vehicle ablaze when soldiers attempted to repel them.

During today’s protest, one of the demonstrators, pointing at soldiers, voiced concerns in pidgin English, saying, “If you people cannot help us, who will help us?”
