Women’s Super League: Chelsea Wins Fifth Consecutive WSL Title With 6-0 Victory Over Man Utd

Chelsea have won the Women’s Super League (WSL) title for the fifth year in a row.

The title race went down to the final day, with Chelsea securing the championship after a stunning 6-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The goals were scored by Mayra Ramirez (who scored twice), Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, Sjoeke Nusken, Melanie Leupolz, and Fran Kirby, who played her last game in Chelsea blue.

This win also marks the end of Emma Hayes’ 12-year career as Chelsea’s manager, earning her seventh league title.

Chelsea finished the season with 18 wins, one draw, and three losses. They scored 71 goals, setting a new WSL season record, and conceded just 18.

The season was challenging with Emma Hayes’ departure and key players like captain Millie Bright and last season’s top scorer Sam Kerr out due to injuries.

Despite these obstacles, the team’s determination shone through, making them the best side in England once again.

Hayes leaves Chelsea with an impressive record: seven WSL titles, five FA Cups, two Continental Cups, the Spring Series, and a Community Shield. Chelsea also reached the UEFA Women’s Champions League final in 2020.

This title win is a fitting farewell to club legends Kirby and Maren Mjelde, who are leaving after nine and seven years of service, respectively.
