Hollywood actress Michelle Trachtenberg, known for her roles in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Gossip Girl”, has died at the age of 39.

According to Manhattan police, officers responded to an emergency call on Wednesday morning and found Trachtenberg unconscious and unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The actress rose to fame as a child star in the 1990s, making her film debut in “Harriet the Spy” (1996) and appearing in various Nickelodeon productions.
She later gained widespread recognition as Dawn Summers in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and as the cunning socialite Georgina Sparks in “Gossip Girl”, a role she reprised in the show’s 2023 reboot.
Her family confirmed the tragic news in a statement, saying: “It is with great sadness to confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away. The family requests privacy for their loss.”
Authorities have stated that foul play is not suspected.
“Criminality is not suspected. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing,” the NYPD said.
Michelle Trachtenberg began acting at age nine, landing a role in ‘The Adventures of Pete & Pete”.
By the early 2000s, she had earned multiple award nominations, including a Daytime Emmy for her work in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”.
Her career spanned both television and film, with appearances in “EuroTrip”, “Ice Princess”, “Killing Kennedy”, and “Sister Cities”.
In 2021, she hosted the true-crime docuseries “Meet, Marry, Murder” on Tubi, which was her last major on-screen project.
In the same year, Trachtenberg spoke out against “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” creator Joss Whedon, alleging inappropriate behavior on set.
Her claims followed similar accusations made by co-star Charisma Carpenter, who said she had suffered mistreatment while working with Whedon.
Michelle Trachtenberg’s death marks the end of a career that spanned decades, from child stardom to celebrated roles in some of television’s most iconic series.
