Unoma Akpabio, the wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has dismissed allegations of sexual harassment made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, accusing her of fabricating lies to tarnish her husband’s reputation.
Natasha Akpoti, who represents Kogi Central under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), claimed during an interview on Arise TV that Akpabio made inappropriate advances towards her.
She further alleged that her refusal led to him blocking her motions from being discussed in the Senate.
In response, Unoma Akpabio refuted the accusations, stating that Akpoti-Uduaghan was lying and creating content for personal gain.
She recalled the long-standing cordial relationship between both families, emphasizing that the claims were baseless.
She said“The allegations are unfounded, as she was present at her family residence on the alleged date 8th December, 2023.
“Both families enjoy a long-standing cordial relationship that predates Senator Natasha’s marriage to her husband.”
Mrs. Akpabio highlighted her husband’s history of supporting women’s inclusion in government, stating that he has always been a man of discipline who deeply respects his family.
She insisted that the claims against him were false and misleading, noting that Godswill Akpabio is lively person whose actions are often misunderstood.
Unoma Akpabio, therefore, urged women to desist from peddling such false allegations, as she vowed to seek legal redress on the matter.
