Legendary American singer and songwriter Dolly Parton has announced the sad news of her husband Carl Dean’s death at the age of 82.

Carl Dean, who was known for staying out of the public eye despite being married to Dolly Parton for nearly six decades, passed away in Nashville, Tennessee.
The singer announced the news on social media, revealing that he died on March 3, 2025.
In an emotional statement, she wrote, “Carl Dean, husband of Dolly Parton, passed away March 3rd in Nashville at the age of 82. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with immediate family attending.
“He was survived by his siblings Sandra and Donnie. Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy. The family has asked for privacy during this difficult time.”
Parton and Dean’s love story began when she was just 18, after they met at a laundromat in Nashville. They tied the knot two years later on May 30, 1966, in a quiet ceremony in Ringgold, Georgia.
Though married to one of the biggest music icons, Dean chose to lead a private life, focusing on his asphalt business rather than the spotlight.
Despite staying out of public view, he was a major inspiration behind some of Parton’s most famous songs, including the hit *Jolene.*
Over the years, the couple’s intensely private relationship sparked speculation, with some even joking that Dean wasn’t real—a rumor Parton laughed off.
While they never had children, their bond remained strong for decades. Following the news of his passing, fans, fellow celebrities, and well-wishers flooded Parton’s social media with heartfelt condolences and messages of support.
