Governor Soludo Bans Loud Preaching In Anambra Markets, Imposes ₦500,000 Fine [Video]

Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has issued a strict warning against loud preaching in public spaces, especially in markets, citing concerns over noise pollution and public disturbance.

In a viral video, Governor Soludo announced that anyone caught violating this directive would be fined ₦500,000.

The governor confronted a street preacher in a market, instructing him to stop disrupting traders with his loudspeakers.

He advised the preacher to take his message to a church or rent an open space where willing listeners could gather.

While addressing traders at Ochanja Market in Onitsha, Soludo made it clear that marketplaces are for business, not religious gatherings.

“If you want to preach the word of God, go to your church. You are causing noise pollution here. You cannot come to a marketplace and disturb everyone,” he stated.

The governor reiterated that unauthorized religious activities in public areas would no longer be tolerated.

He said, “If you want to preach, go to a church. Those who want to listen will come to you; you cannot force people in the market to hear your message.”

Soludo also warned that anyone attempting to turn public spaces into places of worship would face consequences.

You will pay ₦500,000 because we cannot allow this. We have banned loudspeakers in markets due to noise pollution, which affects people’s eardrums. You cannot force people to listen to your preaching. We are cracking down on fake pastors and prophets in Anambra,” he added.
