Adeola, daughter of veteran Nollywood actress Jumoke George, has finally returned to Nigeria after being stuck in Mali for four years.
KanyiDaily recalls that Jumoke George had previously spoken out in an interview, revealing that her daughter had been missing for years and that she had kept her struggles private due to shame and fear of judgment.
Actress Abiola Adebayo, who first brought Jumoke’s story to light through her TalkToB show, played a key role in drawing attention to the situation.
After Jumoke’s revelation about her missing daughter, Adebayo revealed that the Child Rights Campaign (CRC) had tracked down Adeola and verified her identity.
Jumoke later got a call from Adeola, who tearfully asked for forgiveness and explained that she had traveled in search of a better life, but she lost her phone and got stuck in Mali due to violence involving military forces and Boko Haram militants.
In a new development, the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, confirmed on Monday that Adeola was received back home after being rescued from Mali.
Dabiri-Erewa, who also revealed that the actress’s daughter was trafficked to the West African country, thanked Adebayo, along with actor Niyi Johnson, for their efforts in reuniting the mother and daughter.
She wrote, “Breaking! Adeola, daughter of popular actress Jumoke George, who cried out that she had not heard from her daughter in four years, is back home from Mali, where she was trafficked to. Just received her , with Biola Adebayo who broke the story and Niyi Johnson. Details later !”
