The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, Adewale Ajao has arrested a woman after a disturbing video showed her 14-year-old maid covered in burns and bruises.
The girl, Bashariya, from Zamfara State, said her parents sent her to work as a maid in Abuja after fleeing bandit attacks in their hometown.
She was promised a better life but instead faced beatings, starvation, and burns at the hands of her guardian.
The video, where Bashariya speaks in Hausa about her suffering, sparked outrage online.
Seeing the injuries on her body, the FCT Police Commissioner, Adewale Ajao, immediately ordered her arrest.
Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh confirmed that officers across Abuja were instructed to track down and arrest the woman responsible for the abuse.
