Nollywood actor Adeniyi Johnson has spoken out against filmmaker Bola Akande following the sudden death of young actor Ola Lawal during a movie shoot.
According to reports, Ola Lawal passed away while filming on the set of a production directed by Bola Akande.
In an Instagram post, Johnson expressed sadness over the loss and disappointment at Akande’s silence since the tragedy occurred.
While he made it clear he doesn’t believe Akande is directly to blame for Lawal’s death, Johnson said she should at least speak up, explain what happened, and show some support to the grieving family.
“SAD! SAD!! SAD!!! @bolaakande02 has refused to make a comment or post about this incident. We’re shocked and saddened by OLA’s passing,” Adeniyi Johnson wrote.
“Your silence is deafening. We’re not blaming you for his death, but we urge you to acknowledge the situation, share your side of the story, and consider supporting the family.”
He also said that Ola Lawal’s father felt disrespected by how the situation was handled, especially after someone reportedly asked for the late actor’s brother’s bank details shortly after his death.
“The father feels disrespected, citing a lack of human feeling by requesting the brother’s account number shortly after OLA’s passing, as if he were for sale,” he stated.
Johnson also commended actor Segun Okeowo for being the only person who has consistently reached out and shown genuine concern.
“Mr. @segunokeowo_kso has been the sole caller, showing empathy. We demand justice for OLA’s dignity and a proper burial. We’ll keep pushing for accountability,” he added.
As at the time of filing this report, Bola Akande has not released any public statement regarding Ola Lawal’s death.
