Ondo State Police Command has arrested a traditional ruler in the Laaagba community, located in Ondo East Local Government Area, for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl.

Police sources identified the suspect as Chief Adeniyi Ifedayo who is accused of luring the minor to his home, where he reportedly kept her for two weeks and repeatedly assaulted her.
The victim, who is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Ondo town, said a commercial motorcyclist in the community had taken her to the chief’s house.
She said the traditional ruler held her there against her will, fed her only pap, and assaulted her every day throughout the two-week period until her parents eventually declared her missing.
“The Baale kept me in his house for two weeks and feed me with pap, while he assaulted me sexually on daily basis,” she narrated.
“My parents became worried about my whereabouts and eventually raised an alarm, declaring me missing. After two weeks, the Baale took me on a motorcycle and dumped me at a location in Akure.”
Mr. T. Y. Pickson, the Area Commander of the Ondo Police Division, confirmed the arrest and noted that the case has been handed over to the State Police Command in Akure for further investigation.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, also confirmed the development, saying that a full investigation is currently underway at the State Headquarters.
