Kemi Badenoch Claims Her Children Can’t Get Nigerian Citizenship Because She’s A Woman

UK Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch claima that she’s unable to pass her Nigerian citizenship to her children due to gender-based laws in Nigeria.

Speaking in an interview with Fareed Zakaria on CNN, Kemi Badenoch highlighted what she sees as unfair differences between immigration systems in countries like Nigeria and the UK.

She said, “It’s virtually impossible, for example, to get Nigerian citizenship. I have that citizenship by virtue of my parents, I can’t give it to my children because I’m a woman.”

Badenoch pointed out that while Nigeria has strict rules, many Nigerians come to the UK and easily gain citizenship, which she believes is something Britain needs to rethink.

“Yet loads of Nigerians come to the UK and stay for a relatively free period of time, acquire British citizenship. We need to stop being naive.

“That is why under my leadership, we now have policies to make it harder to just get British citizenship. It has been too easy,” she said.

When asked about Nigerians in the UK creating “mini” communities that resemble Nigeria, Badenoch said she doesn’t support the idea.

She said, “That is not right. Nigerians would not tolerate that. That’s not something that many countries would accept.

“There are many people who come to our country, to the UK, who do things that would not be acceptable in their countries.”

Badenoch, who was born in the UK and spent part of her early life in Lagos, used her experience to stress the need for tougher immigration laws and better integration practices.
