The semi-final clash at Larbi Zaouli Stadium was intense from start to finish.

Nigeria took the lead just before halftime when Rasheedat Ajibade converted a penalty following a foul in the South African box.

South Africa, the reigning champions, responded early in the second half with a penalty of their own after Nigeria gave away a foul. The spot kick was calmly slotted in to level the match.

Both sides continued to battle for a winner, but it was Nigeria who had the final say.

In the 90th minute, defender Michelle Alozie delivered a brilliant free kick that beat the South African goalkeeper, sealing the win for the Falcons.

The victory gives Nigeria a shot at their 10th WAFCON title as they wait to face either host nation Morocco or Ghana’s Black Queens in the final.

The win also serves as redemption for the Falcons, who lost to South Africa during the group stage of the 2022 tournament. This time, they came out on top.
