Peter Obi Is Our Product, We Want To Get Him Back – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed that it is actively working to bring back Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate.

This was revealed by Ibrahim Abdullahi, the PDP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, during an interview on Arise Television.

He described Obi as a major political figure whose return could strengthen the party’s chances in future elections.

Abdullahi acknowledged Obi’s strong performance in the last presidential election, where he received more than six million votes nationwide.

He said the figure was impressive, especially considering widespread electoral manipulation and deliberate attempts to hinder Obi’s campaign in many parts of the country.

“Peter Obi is our product. We want to get him back, indeed, because he is a very, very great capital for any political party.

“If he had not gone the way he did in the last dispensation and had not faced the institutional obstacles that were placed in his path, we are confident he would have performed even better.

“That he was still able to command over six million votes shows he is not a candidate to ignore,” Abdullahi said.

He added that if not for the challenges Peter Obi faced during the 2023 elections, he could have done even better.

According to him, Obi’s exit from the PDP was a blow to the party at the time, but it didn’t affect the respect many PDP members still have for him.

Every political party that gets the opportunity to have him will be at an advantage. And certainly, PDP is not giving up on that effort,” Abdullahi added.

Abdullahi also revealed that the party is already holding internal discussions and working on a broader plan to unite the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said part of that strategy includes making efforts to bring Obi back into the PDP.

“In the fullness of time, we believe we might get him back. It will be a big boost to the PDP,” he said.

KanyiDaily recalls that the Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party recently gave Peter Obi a 48-hour deadline to leave the party, following his recent involvement in ADC coalition.
