Court Denies Third Bail Request By Alleged Terrorist Negotiator Tukur Mamu

Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja has turned down a new bail request from Tukur Mamu, the detained man accused of negotiating with terrorists.

In his ruling on Wednesday, Justice Umar acknowledged Mamu’s health concerns but directed the Department of State Services (DSS) not to release him.

The judge, however, ordered that Tukur Mamu be taken to an appropriate medical facility for proper treatment.

Justice Umar noted that the prosecution had shown commitment and diligence in handling the case.

He explained that bail is usually granted when the prosecution fails to act diligently, but since that was not the situation here, Mamu’s bail application could not be approved.

The judge then instructed Mamu’s lawyer to select a hospital of the defendant’s choice where he should receive medical care.

He also ordered the DSS to allow Mamu access to his family members.

This comes months after the Federal Government opposed another bail application filed by the alleged terrorist negotiator, Tukur Mamu.
