Mahmood Yakubu has handed over leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to May Agbamuche, who will serve as the Acting National Chairman.

May Agbamuche, the most senior National Commissioner at INEC, will oversee the commission’s affairs until a substantive chairman is appointed.
Mahmood Yakubu announced the handover on Tuesday during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.
He urged commissioners and directors to give Agbamuche their full support during the transition period.

KanyiDaily recalls that the FCT High Court previously dismissed a suit seeking to remove Mahmood Yakubu as the INEC chairman over alleged false asset declaration.
