Burial Plans For Gospel Singer Bunmi Akinnaanu Cancelled Over ‘Family Issues’

Family members and friends of the late gospel singer Bunmi Akinnaanu have announced that all planned burial activities have been cancelled.

KanyiDaily recalls that Bunmi Akinnaanu died on January 12 after battling a serious leg illness for a long time.

Before her death, the gospel singer had publicly asked for prayers and support, and many fans and music lovers responded with sympathy.

Her burial plans was previously announced by fellow gospel singer Alayo Melody on Instagram, alongside a flier outlining the programme of events.

According to the schedule, activities will begin on Tuesday, January 20, with a service of songs at the LTV 8 ground in Ikeja, Lagos. Later that evening, a candlelight walk will take place at 7pm, followed by a tribute and artistes’ night at 8pm. A private burial for family and close friends was scheduled for January 21.

However, the burial plans have now been officially called off.

In a video posted on Instagram on Sunday, Lanre Alewilese, a colleague of Akinnaanu, said the burial planning committee decided to cancel the events because of a “family issue.”

The post stated that all arrangements are “CANCELLED totally” and that a new date will be announced later.

“This is to inform you that all plans & arrangements for the burial of our Late Sister & Colleague; *Lady Evang. Bunmi Akinnaanu a.k.a. OMIJE OJUMI by the Burial Planning Committee has been CANCELLED totally.

“This decision becomes necessary due to some issues arising from & within her family. We are deeply sorry & regret the inconveniences sir/ma,’ the post reads.
