A Federal High Court in Ibadan has nullified the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15, 2025.

The court ruled that members of the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) cannot present themselves as the party’s national officers.
It also confirmed that the Caretaker Committee headed by Mohammed Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu remains the only legally recognised NWC of the PDP until a proper National Convention is held.
Anyanwu is widely seen as close allies of the FCT Minister and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike.
This decision adds a new chapter to the ongoing leadership crisis within the party.
The PDP held a two-day 2025 Elective National Convention at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
Tagged #Ibadan2025, the event attracted thousands of party delegates and leaders.
The convention was meant to elect a new National Working Committee (NWC), including a National Chairman, to guide the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
However, the recent court ruling now casts doubt on the legitimacy of the leadership chosen at the convention and raises questions about the party’s readiness for the next elections.
KanyiDaily recalls that two senators and six members of the House of Representatives, loyal to Wike, recently dumped the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
