Reactions As IShowSpeed Complains About Lack Of Electricity In Nigeria [Video]

American streamer Darren Jason Watkins, better known as iShowSpeed, has stirred conversation online after expressing frustration over power supply issues during his visit to Nigeria.

The popular YouTuber caused a buzz on Wednesday when he livestreamed his first full day in Lagos.

The 21-year-old arrived in Lagos as part of his ongoing Africa tour and went live almost immediately while moving through different parts of the city in a convoy.

Dressed in a Nigerian football jersey and standing through the sunroof of a moving vehicle, Speed quickly drew attention.

Residents, traders, and passersby rushed toward his convoy, cheering, waving, and recording the moment on their phones.

His Africa tour, tagged Speed Does Africa, officially began on December 29, 2025. The trip is planned to last 28 days and will cover 20 countries.

The tour started in Angola and includes visits to Nigeria, South Africa, Eswatini, and several other countries.

Throughout the journey, Speed is livestreaming on YouTube and Twitch, focusing on local culture, interactions with the public, and fan engagement.

During the Lagos livestream, he lamented saying, “It’s getting dark here in Nigeria. I don’t like this dark stuff.”

The remark triggered mixed reactions online. While some viewers criticized the statement, others defended it as a honest reaction during the live stream, especially given the limited street lighting in some areas.

KanyiDaily recalls that the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, promised that Nigerians will enjoy a steady supply of electricity before President Tinubu’s term ends in 2027.
