Shettima Leads Nigerian Delegation To World Economic Forum In Switzerland

Vice President Kashim Shettima is heading Nigeria’s delegation to the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The World Economic Forum is set to run from January 19 to 23, 2026, bringing together major political and business leaders from around the world.

Shettima arrived in Switzerland after traveling to Conakry, Guinea, on Friday, where he represented President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of President Mamadi Doumbouya.

A statement from his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications said that on arrival, Shettima was welcomed by Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and officials from Nigeria’s mission in Switzerland.

The World Economic Forum’s annual meeting draws thousands of participants, including government leaders, CEOs, civil society representatives, and journalists.

The 2026 gathering is expected to focus on economic challenges, technological innovation, and climate action.

This year’s forum is notable for Nigeria because the Federal Government has set up its own sovereign pavilion on the Davos Promenade for the first time.

Named “Nigeria House Davos,” the pavilion was created through a Public-Private Partnership and will host ministerial meetings, investment discussions, and cultural activities during the week.

The Vice President is expected to officially open the facility during his visit.

Speaking to journalists after Shettima’s arrival, Oduwole said that Nigeria will highlight investment opportunities at the launch of Nigeria House.

“We will be showcasing four playbooks on President Tinubu’s efforts in re-engineering the Nigerian economy,” she said.

“We will present our solid minerals sector, climate sustainability, agriculture, and creative and digital sectors to investors from all over the world.”

Nkwocha added that Shettima will share Nigeria’s economic outlook for 2026 with global leaders at the forum.

He is also set to take part in plenary sessions on the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence, quantum computing, and biotechnology.

During the week, the Vice President will hold bilateral meetings with heads of state, leaders of multinational companies, and officials from international development finance institutions.
