In a post on Instagram on Tuesday, Simi Drey said she bought and confirmed a business class ticket, yet she was repeatedly stopped from boarding because of the airline’s internal mistakes.
She explained that while TAAG’s system showed her ticket as valid, South African Airways, which was operating part of the trip, said her name was missing from its passenger list.
According to her, the situation became worse when airline staff later told her that the only available seat on the next flight was in economy class.
The actress said they asked her to accept this “voluntary downgrade” and give up any right to compensation before she would be allowed to travel.
She said this was unfair because she paid for business class and was being forced to surrender her rights just so she could get home after long delays she did not cause.
She wrote, “THIS IS HOW NIGERIANS ARE BEING TREATED IN SOUTH AFRICA
“I have now been stranded for over 24 hours due to airline mismanagement and lack of accountability.
“Despite having a confirmed business class ticket with #flytaag , (who were flying me to Johannesburg first via #flysaa ), to catch my connecting flights, I was denied boarding by South African Airways claiming they could not find my name on their manifest even though TAAG could clearly see my confirmed ticket on their system.
“I was waitlisted on the next TAAG flight which was overbooked and could not fly. I was then rebooked for a midnight flight today, only to arrive at the airport again and be told I was once again placed on standby on a fully booked flight.”
Simi Drey also said the experience has been especially difficult because she is a breastfeeding mother trying to return to her baby, noting that the situation was exhausting, upsetting, and unacceptable.
“I am a breastfeeding mother trying to get back to my baby. Being stranded repeatedly without accountability, transparency or care is unacceptable. This goes beyond inconvenience. It is distressing, exhausting and deeply unfair.
“I am asking for urgent intervention and accountability.

The actress called for quick action and accountability from the airline, saying the treatment she received shows a lack of transparency and care.
At the time of filing this report, TAAG Airlines had not released an official statement responding to her claims.
