Afrobeats star Davido has announced that he is dropping the case against his baby mama, Sophia Momodu, over the custody of his daughter, Imade Adeleke.

Davido shares Imade with Sophia Momodu. The couple dated in 2015, and Imade was born on May 14 of that year.
Last year, Davido filed a motion at the Lagos High Court requesting “unrestricted access” to his daughter.
Sophia Momodu responded at that time, saying she has never prevented him from seeing Imade.
Taking to his X page on Friday, Davido explained that he never asked for full custody and questioned why some people were celebrating the recent court proceedings.
The musician said he decided to withdraw the case after a court moment he found unacceptable.
He said the situation became painful when the opposing side made an offensive reference to his late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke with his wife, Chioma Rowland.
Davido added that even though the legal battle has ended, his daughter will eventually understand his intentions.
He wrote, “1. I never asked for full custody … I asked for joint custody
“2. Nobody won , nobody lost but Imade … so I don’t know why some pple r celebrating.. there’s nothing to celebrate.
“3 . I’ve decided to drop the case because when I was spanking that lawyer in the court room all .. she would get so frustrated .. because normally I finish school .. I was finishing her .. until she brought out her last card ! MY DECEASED SON ! THATS A NO NO ! Lowest blow!
“4. My daughter will grow up knowing I fought for her .. let’s move on ❤️🙏 One love !”
In another post, Davido criticized Sophia’s lawyer, Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah, for unprofessional behavior, accusing her of making hurtful remarks about his late son in court.
“@belachukwu … I disgraced you in the courtroom.. I was teaching you your work you couldn’t even take it and then went on to mention My Son..
“Like I said in the courtroom I pray you never go through what me and my wife have gone through ever .. and u were still smiling smirking .. u are a wicked human being.
“UR THE WORST LAWYER EVER I BEAT YOU IN COURT! YOU ARE NOT LEARNED,” he wrote.
Earlier, Lagos-based lawyer Maruf Muhammed had shared updates from the court, highlighting tense moments during cross-examination.
“Davido in High Court, Yaba now! Come and see drama in court. The lawyer made 001 lose his patience during cross-examination o! Be you never so high, the law is above you,” Muhammed posted.
KanyiDaily recalls that in 2023, Sophia Momodu had announced her intention to change Imade’s surname to hers, explaining that she had played both parental roles.
