The lawyer, Taofeek Akinbo, made this known in a series of posts on X, formally known as Twitter, on Friday.
In the posts, Akinbo confirmed that he is officially acting as Mirabel’s legal counsel and appealed for restraint as conversations about the case continue online.
From exchanges on social media, Akinbo appears to have some level of connection with the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi.
In his posts, he tagged both the police spokesperson and social media personality VeryDarkMan, to whom the TikToker confessed that aspects of her initial story were false.
Akinbo wrote, ”I am pleased to formally announce that I serve as legal counsel to Mirabel.
“Please be assured that this matter is being handled with the utmost diligence, professionalism, and respect for due process.”
He urged members of the public to avoid drawing conclusions while the investigation is still ongoing.
“We kindly urge the public to exercise patience as we await the outcome of the ongoing investigation by the Nigeria Police Force, specifically the Gender and Rape Allied Matters Unit, Zone 2 Area Command, Abeokuta, Ogun State,” he added.
Akinbo also praised the police for what he described as a careful and orderly investigation, saying further information would be shared once the process is completed.
“We acknowledge and commend the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force in conducting a thorough and orderly investigation.
“Further updates will be communicated as appropriate upon the conclusion of the investigative process. Thank you for your understanding,” he stated.
KanyiDaily recalls that the Ogun Police Command confirmed that Mirabel had been discharged from the hospital but remains with the police as inquiries continue.
