Nigeria Is Safer Now Under Tinubu Than 10 Years Ago – Seyi Law [Video]

Nigerian comedian-turned politician, Seyi Law claims that security has improved under President Bola Tinubu compared to past governments.

He made the remarks during an upcoming episode of the The Honest Bunch Podcast when one of the hosts asked if the country feels safer now than it did a decade ago.

In response, Seyi Law said he believes Nigeria is more secure today than during the administrations of former presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari.

He argued that the current government has eliminated more bandits and that bomb explosions, which were once common in news reports, are no longer frequently heard of.

The 42-year-old, who supported Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election, also stated that the country’s economy has improved since Tinubu took office.

“Nigeria is safer now than 10 years ago. This government has killed more bandits since Jonathan’s. When have you last heard of a bomb blast?

“It is not today that they have been kidnapping people in their houses.

“Nigeria’s economy is better than Tinubu met it,” he said.

However, another guest on the podcast disagreed with him, insisting that “Nigeria is more unsafe than it has ever been”.

Nigeria continues to struggle with insecurity, including attacks by extremist groups such as Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province, as well as criminal gangs often referred to as bandits, who carry out kidnappings and other violent crimes.

A report citing the National Human Rights Commission said at least 2,266 people were killed by bandits or insurgents in the first half of 2025 alone — a figure higher than the total recorded for the whole of 2024.
