Police Officers Arrested For Accidental Killing Two Passersby In Lagos

Several police officers have been arrested after an “accidental shooting” that killed two passersby on Friday in Alagbado, Lagos State.

Abimbola Adebisi, the Lagos State police spokesperson, said Commissioner Moshood Jimoh has launched an investigation into the incident.

It was gathered that the officers were pursuing suspected internet fraudsters, commonly called “Yahoo boys,” when the shots were fired.

In a post on X, Adebisi said Jimoh has directed “adequate deployment of personnel to forestall any breakdown of law and order” in the area.

The officers involved in the unfortunate shooting incident that occurred today in Alagbado have been arrested and taken into custody,” Adebisi said.

He added that the situation in the area has returned to normal and promised that the investigation’s results will be made public.

An X user who witnessed the incident said the officers were from the AIT division police station.

They were reportedly on stop-and-search duty and fled the scene after shooting the victims, leaving them unconscious without immediate help until they later died.

KanyiDaily recalls that three police officers were injured on Friday after a 19-year-old driver crashed into a checkpoint in Edo State.
