Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he will represent President Bola Tinubu at the 2026 African Union Summit.

The Summit, themed “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063,” will centre on improving water supply, strengthening sanitation systems, and pushing forward Africa’s long-term development plan under Agenda 2063.

In a statement released by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, it was disclosed that Shettima will take part in the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of AU Heads of State and Government.

He will also attend the 30th General Assembly scheduled for February 14 and 15, 2026.

On the sidelines of the Summit, the Vice President is expected to join other African leaders in discussions and attend special side meetings.

He will also hold talks with political and business figures to deepen Nigeria’s diplomatic ties, trade relations, and strategic partnerships across the continent.

Shettima travelled with several ministers and top government officials and is expected back in Nigeria after completing his engagements in Addis Ababa.

KanyiDaily recalls that Kashim Shettima previously led Nigeria’s delegation to the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
