Warri Leader Edema Signals Caution on 2027 Race, Backs Tinubu, Oborevwori

Prince Collins Oritsetimeyin Edema has responded to growing calls from political groups and supporters urging him to contest for the Delta South Senatorial seat, stating that he has not yet made any decision regarding the 2027 general elections.

In a formal statement addressed to supporters, Edema expressed deep appreciation to the Itsekiri Youths for Good Governance and other stakeholders for their confidence in his leadership. He described the endorsement as “humbling” and reflective of a shared vision for the future of Delta South.

However, he emphasized that his immediate priority remains his current role as Sole Representative of the Olu of Warri to NNPCL and Joint Venture partners. According to him, the position carries significant responsibility to the Itsekiri people and must not be compromised by political distractions.

Edema noted that his appointment by Ogiame Atuwatse III comes with a duty to deliver tangible results, adding that he remains committed to executing the mandate with integrity and diligence.

Addressing the broader political landscape, Edema reaffirmed his alignment with national and state leadership, declaring support for the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. He also pledged commitment to the continuity of governance in Delta State under Sheriff Oborevwori.

On local representation, Edema revealed that consultations are ongoing to identify credible candidates for the Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, citing dissatisfaction with current representation and the need for more effective leadership.

He assured supporters that his team is actively engaging stakeholders and evaluating options, promising that any future political decision would be communicated directly to the public at the appropriate time.
Edema concluded by stating that the calls for him to run have strengthened his resolve to serve, reiterating his commitment to unity, humility, and sustained engagement with his constituents.

OFFICIAL RESPONSE TO THE CALL TO CONTEST AS SENATOR REPRESENTING DELTA SOUTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT

My dear brothers and sisters,

I deeply appreciate the call and overwhelming show of confidence from the Itsekiri Youths for Good Governance and the many other groups and well-meaning supporters across our communities. Your belief in me is not taken for granted. It is a powerful reminder of the bond we share and the collective hope we carry for a better Delta South.

I am truly humbled by this call to serve at a higher level. However, I must speak plainly and with a strong sense of responsibility to you all.

At this moment, my focus remains firmly on the responsibility already entrusted to me as Sole Representative of the Olu of Warri to NNPCL/JV Partners. This is not just a position—it is a duty to our people, to our future, and to the trust you have placed in me. I am fully committed to delivering on this assignment committed into my hand by our benevolent Overlord- His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR the Olu of Warri with integrity, hard work, and visible results. I will not be distracted from the work that still lies ahead.

As of today, I have not taken any decision regarding contesting in the 2027 general elections.

Our immediate political task is clear and non-negotiable. Together with my supporters and political family across Nigeria, we are fully mobilized and committed to ensuring the return of the incumbent President His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2027.

In Delta State, we are equally resolute in securing the re-election of the Executive Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, as continuity remains vital for the progress we seek.

At the same time, we are strongly and actively considering worthy individuals to represent Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, as we are tired of the current situation which has not yielded to anything tangible. We believe in building a united front that reflects the true interests of our people.

Let me assure you: we are not idle. My team and I are consulting widely, listening carefully, and evaluating all options with the seriousness they deserve. When the time is right, and when a clear decision is reached, you—the people—will hear from me directly.

This call you have made has not pressured me; rather, it has strengthened my resolve. It has renewed my determination to serve you with even greater courage, humility, and dedication. I remain one of you, and I will continue to stand with you.

Together, we move forward.

Thank you for your unwavering support, your trust, and your belief.

Prince Collins Oritsetimeyin Edema
