Army Arrests Teenage Suspect Over Killing Of General Oseni Braimah In Borno

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North-East), Operation Hadin Kai, have arrested a 15-year-old suspect over his alleged role in the deadly attack that led to the killing of Brigadier-General Oseni Braimah in Borno State.

The teenager, identified simply as Tijjani, was reportedly arrested on Sunday while on his way to buy food and other supplies for members of his group.

Military sources linked him to the assault that claimed the life of General Braimah and three other soldiers.

General Oseni Braimah, who commanded the 29 Task Force Brigade under Operation Hadin Kai, was killed on Thursday when suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked a military base in Benisheikh, Borno.

In a video shared online after his arrest, Tijjani said he was captured in Ngamdu, Borno State.

Speaking in Hausa, the teenage suspect admitted taking part in the attacks on Benisheik and Ngamdu.

Before the attack, we came from Jilli and returned there after the attack. I was sent from Jilli yesterday with N850,000 to collect some logistics from Ngamdu, but I was arrested by troops,” he said.

“Yesterday (Saturday), I left other fighters, my colleagues, at Jilli. I don’t know what happened to them there.”

The suspect further said that he left other fighters in Jilli on Saturday and had not heard what became of them since then.

At the time of filing this report, security authorities had not released any statement regarding the arrest.

KanyiDaily recalls that President Bola Tinubu condemned the death of Brigadier General Oseni Braimah following Boko Haram attack on a military base in Benisheikh, Borno State.
