Trump Posts Photo Of Himself As Jesus, Labels Pope Leo ‘Weak’ Over Call For Peace

US President Donald Trump has shared an AI-generated image of himself portrayed as Jesus Christ, a move that came shortly after his criticism of Pope Leo XIV.

In the photo shared on Truth Social, Trump could be seen in flowing robes, surrounded by bright heavenly light, as he appeared to be healing a man in a hospital bed, while angel-like figures and military-themed symbols filled the scene.

The dramatic artwork also featured fighter jets crossing the sky, fireworks overhead, and landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty in the background, blending religious imagery with symbols of American patriotism and military strength.

Trump’s post came after he launched a verbal attack on Pope Leo XIV, describing the pontiff as “weak on crime” and “terrible for foreign policy” following the pope’s repeated calls for peace and an end to growing global conflicts.

Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy,” the US president wrote.

“He talks about ‘fear’ of the Trump Administration, but doesn’t mention the fear that the Catholic Church, and all other Christian organisations, had during COVID when they were arresting priests, ministers, and everybody else for holding church services.”

The US president also criticised Pope Leo’s views on global issues, especially his opposition to war and nuclear escalation.

Trump said he did not support a pope who was soft on Iran’s nuclear ambitions or critical of recent American military actions abroad.

“I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon. I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s terrible that America attacked Venezuela, a Country that was sending massive amounts of Drugs into the United States,” he said.

“And I don’t want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because I’m doing exactly what I was elected, IN A LANDSLIDE, to do, setting Record Low Numbers in Crime, and creating the Greatest Stock Market in History.

Trump argued that Pope Leo should appreciate his role in shaping the political environment that, according to him, made the pope’s election possible.

“Leo should be thankful because, as everyone knows, he was a shocking surprise. He wasn’t on any list to be Pope, and was only put there by the Church because he was an American, and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump.

“If I wasn’t in the White House, Leo wouldn’t be in the Vatican. Unfortunately, Leo’s Weak on Crime, Weak on Nuclear Weapons, does not sit well with me.”

Speaking later with reporters, Trump said he was “not a fan” of the pope and accused him of leaning too far to the liberal side politically.

I don’t think he’s doing a very good job. He likes crime I guess. He’s a very liberal person,” he added.

The latest clash followed Pope Leo’s remarks during evening prayers at St Peter’s Basilica, where he appealed for peace amid rising tensions across several conflict zones.

The pontiff warned against what he called the dangerous illusion of absolute power, saying true strength lies in protecting life rather than displaying force.

Enough of the idolatry of self and money! Enough of the display of power! Enough of war! True strength is shown in serving life,” he said.

In earlier posts on X, Pope Leo had also called for dialogue between the US, Israel, and Iran, insisting that lasting peace can only come through coexistence and diplomacy rather than violence.

He also warned world leaders against invoking God’s name to justify war, stressing that faith should never be used to defend bloodshed.

God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs,” the pope had written.

The disagreement between both figures has been building over issues such as war, migration, and US deportation policies.

Since his election in 2025 as the first American pope, Leo has repeatedly criticised violence, harsh immigration measures, and what he sees as the dehumanising treatment of migrants.

This new AI-generated image has now become the latest flashpoint in the worsening tension between the White House and the Vatican, further deepening the public feud between Trump and Pope Leo XIV.

KanyiDaily recalls that President Donald Trump had previously shared an AI-generated image of himself dressed as the Pope.
