The 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State, Maj. Gen. Aminu Bande, has decamped to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Aminu Bande was welcomed into the ADC on Monday by the state chairman, Sufiyanu Bala, at the party’s state secretariat, where he was also presented with his membership card.
The retired military officer had resigned from the PDP on Sunday.
In his resignation letter, which was addressed to the PDP ward chairman of Nasarawa I in Birnin Kebbi, Bande said his decision took immediate effect.
He explained that the move came after careful thought, personal reflection, and wide consultations with his associates and other key stakeholders.
According to him, stepping away from the PDP became necessary because he wanted to follow the collective decision of his supporters and people to join a more stable political platform focused on good, fair, and just governance in Kebbi State and across Nigeria.
Although he did not revealed his next party in the resignation letter, his public reception into the ADC has now made his new political direction clear.
Aminu Bande was the PDP governorship flag bearer in the 2023 election but was defeated by the current Kebbi State governor, Nasir Idris.
KanyiDaily recalls that the INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan recently warned the ADC against going ahead with its planned congresses and national convention without the commission’s supervision.
