The former officers marched together to the police headquarters, chanting solidarity songs as they expressed anger over unpaid gratuities and what they described as poor pension welfare.
Photos and videos from the protest showed the retirees blocking parts of the entrance while demanding urgent action from the authorities.
During the demonstration, they repeatedly sang protest songs to show their frustration with the way their pensions were being managed and the low amounts being paid to them.
One of the chants heard during the protest was, “We no go gree, wuru wuru pension, we no go gree,” reflecting their rejection of what they called an unfair pension system.
Videos circulating online also showed moments of tension as some of the retired officers confronted serving police personnel stationed at the Force Headquarters during the protest.
