Funke Akindele Calls Out Air Peace For Leaving Passengers Stranded In London [Video]

Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has criticised Air Peace for leaving passengers stranded at Gatwick Airport in London.

Funke Akindele called out Air Peace via her X page on Friday, demanding for urgent action from the airline.

The actress said travellers  including elderly people were stuck at the airport for nearly 10 hours without access to their luggage, hotel accommodation, or clear updates.

According to her, passengers had been waiting since early morning, around 6:30am, and were only later informed that a bird strike had caused the delay.

Air Peace, this is unacceptable. Passengers (including elderly people) have been stranded since 6:30am at London Gatwick Airport with no proper communication.

“After hours of delay, we were told there was a bird strike and promised a hotel.

“Hours later, people are still sitting at baggage claim hungry, exhausted, and without their bags,” she wrote.

Akindele described the situation as unfair, noting that elderly passengers were finding it difficult to cope, while families were tired, hungry, and frustrated.

She urged the airline to release the luggage and provide the promised accommodation.

Release passengers’ luggage immediately and provide the hotel you promised. Do something NOW.

In another post shared later, along with a video, Funke Akindele said there had been no improvement.

She stressed that by late afternoon, passengers were still waiting without their bags, proper information, or a place to rest.

Air Peace, what is going on? Since 7am at London Gatwick Airport and it’s almost 4pm — no bags, no hotel, no proper updates.

“Passengers are stranded. People are tired and hungry. Release the luggage and take care of your passengers NOW,” she wrote.

In its response, Air Peace acknowledged the complaints and apologised for the inconvenience.

The airline explained that the disruption was caused by circumstances beyond its control, adding that safety remains its top priority.

Air Peace also said efforts were ongoing to assist affected passengers and appealed for patience.

The airline wrote, “Dear Funke @funkeakindele , we sincerely empathize with you over this experience and all inconveniences this has caused to your travel plans.

“Such actions are never intentional as we prioritize safety and operational efficiency, and while we strive for on-time departures, certain factors beyond our control can sometimes cause delays.

“Rest assured our team are working at the moment to provide all affected passengers with the adequate assistance. Please bear with us during this time🙏🏼”
