Seven Students Injured As Gunmen Attack School In Ebonyi

Seven students of Ebonyi State College of Health Science and Technology in Ngbo, Ohaukwu Local Government Area, sustained injuries after gunmen attacked their hostel in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to sources, the incident happened at about 1 a.m. when the attackers reportedly forced their way into the hostel and stole valuables belonging to the students.

Sources familiar with the school environment disclosed that the hostels lack adequate security measures, including perimeter fencing and security personnel, leaving the area vulnerable to criminal activities.

Speaking on the incident, the spokesperson for the Ebonyi State Police Command, Joshua Ukandu, said officers were quickly deployed after the attack was reported.

However, by the time security operatives arrived at the scene, the suspects had already fled into a nearby bush.

He noted that investigations are ongoing and efforts are being made to arrest those responsible and recover the stolen property.

The injured students have since been taken to a hospital for treatment, although the facility was not disclosed.

The management of the college has not released any official statement concerning the attack at the time of filing this report.
