Jay-Jay Okocha Picks Lionel Messi Over Cristiano Ronaldo As Better Player

Nigerian football legend Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha has named Argentina star Lionel Messi as his preferred better player over Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Jay+Jay Okocha made the choice while answering a question during an appearance on the ObiOne podcast.

The former Super Eagles captain praised Ronaldo but said he considers the Portuguese forward more of a goal scorer and finisher.

According to him, Ronaldo has an exceptional ability to score goals and can find the back of the net consistently.

However, the Nigerian football legend placed Messi in a different category, describing the Argentine as a football genius whose style is similar to art.

Okocha said Messi appeared naturally gifted for the sport and suggested that football was central to his life.

“Messi for me. Ronaldo is a special player, but to me he is a goalscorer. He can score tens of millions of goals. He is simply a finisher, just like Erling Haaland,” Okocha ssid.

“But Messi is on another planet. Messi is art. He was born to play football. If he did not play football, he might become ill. He is a genius, and we have to acknowledge that.”

Messi and Ronaldo dominated the football world for over a decade and won 13 Ballon d’Or awards between them.
