President Bola Tinubu has condemned the attack in Niger State in which many villagers were killed and several others were kidnapped by terrorists.

KanyiDaily had reported that the incident happened at the Kasuwan-Daji market in the Demo community in Borgu Local Government Area.

The attackers struck on Saturday evening, leaving more than 30 people dead and kidnapping many others.

It was gathered that the terrorists stole food and valuables before setting parts of the market on fire.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President directed the military, police, and the Department of State Services (DSS) to find and arrest those responsible.

Tinubu also asked security agencies to move quickly to rescue everyone who was abducted.

He said the attackers must be brought to justice and warned that anyone supporting them in any way would also be held accountable.

The president stressed that the incident is a test of the nation’s resolve and that the government will not back down.

He said, “These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must, therefore, face the full consequences of their criminal actions.

“No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down. They, and all those who aid, abet, or enable them in any form, will be caught and brought to justice.”

He condemned the assault on the Kasuwan-Daji community, offered his sympathy to the families affected, and extended condolences to the government and people of Niger State.

The President added that security forces have been instructed to step up operations in vulnerable areas, especially around forested regions where criminals are believed to hide.

He called on Nigerians to stay united, avoid divisive comments, and stand together during this difficult time, saying the country must work collectively to restore peace to the affected communities.

“These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison.

“United, we can and must defeat them, deny them any sanctuary. We must reclaim the peace and security of these attacked communities,” he added.

Niger State has seen a rise in terrorist attacks. In November, over 300 pupils and students were kidnapped from St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area.
