The teenager, identified simply as Tijjani, was reportedly arrested on Sunday while on his way to buy food and other supplies for members of his group.

Military sources linked him to the assault that claimed the life of General Braimah and three other soldiers.

General Oseni Braimah, who commanded the 29 Task Force Brigade under Operation Hadin Kai, was killed on Thursday when suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked a military base in Benisheikh, Borno.

In a video shared online after his arrest, Tijjani said he was captured in Ngamdu, Borno State.

Speaking in Hausa, the teenage suspect admitted taking part in the attacks on Benisheik and Ngamdu.
