The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed that Linda Ameh, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who was earlier declared missing, has been found after spending several days in captivity in Abuja.

This was made known in a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.

According to the police, Ameh returned safely and personally visited the Maitama Police Station, where she gave officers details about what happened during the incident.

“The FCT Police Command wishes to inform the public that Ms Linda Ameh, the legal practitioner earlier reported missing on 6th May 2026, has been found and personally reported to the Maitama Police Station to provide details of the incident,” the statement read.

The police also stated that efforts were still ongoing to arrest those behind the abduction.

“The Command further states that investigations are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the crime, while Ms. Ameh is assisting the Police with useful information to aid ongoing investigative efforts and ensure the perpetrators are apprehended,” the statement added.

Linda Ameh was reportedly kidnapped on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, in the Maitama area of Abuja shortly after leaving work.

Her disappearance had raised serious concern within the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), which called on security agencies to act quickly.

In a statement on Saturday night, NBA President Afam Osigwe described the incident as painful and disturbing for members of the legal profession.

“When a young lawyer goes missing, the pain is not distant to the Nigerian Bar Association; it is personal,” Osigwe said.

“We are more than a professional body; we are a community bound by shared sacrifice, shared dreams, and a collective duty to stand for one another.”

Reports showed that Ameh had recently started working as a Sales Manager at Blades and Butchers Ltd on Lake Chad Crescent in Maitama while preparing to complete her NYSC programme.

Family members said she was last seen around 5:40 p.m. on the day she disappeared while travelling from her workplace to her residence in Life Camp, Abuja.
