An Accident involving Ondo state Deputy Governor`s Convoy, Kills An NTA Staff And His family And NUJ Chairman Also
The accident occurred at about 10am on Feb.1st 2014.
A Toyota Camry belonging to a traditional ruler, the Osunmakinde of Ife Tuntun, Oba Obawure Taofeek Olaposi, ran into the convoy of the deputy governor who was going to Ondo town on official assignment.
The deputy governor survived the accident.
Those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident were the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), NTA Chapel, Mr. Alex Akinwale, his wife, Rebecca Akinwale, his daughter, Paulina Akinwale, and their house-help. His son, Paul Akinwale, survived the accident and was admitted to the Accident and Trauma Centre, Ondo Town. The Akinwale family were riding in their own car.
The traditional ruler and a teenager who was in the car with him also sustained injuries and was admitted to a specialist hospital in Akure for treatment. According to reports, the driver of the Camry was dangerously overtaking vehicles when he ran into oncoming vehicles causing multiple accidents.
The corpses of the deceased were deposited at the mortuary while the injured are responding to treatment.
