Tiwa Savage Beats Davido And Other African Acts To Become The First Female To Win ‘MTV Best African Act’
Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, has won the 2018 Best African Act at the MTV European Music Awards (MTV EMAs).
The singer who was at the venue of the event in expansive Bilbao Exhibition Center, Bilbao, Spain, on Sunday, clinched the award after beating fellow Nigerian, Davido, South Africa’s Distruction Boyz and Shekinah; Kenya’s Nyashinski and Fally Ipupa from the DRC.
She is the first African female to win the award.
Tiwa Salvage who lost to Davido around June this year, in the Best International Act category of the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards, was full of accolades for Davido on the red carpet, prior to the award show.
Speaking with Nations, She said it was humbling being nominated in the same category of the award with Davido. She also gave a shout out to fellow contestant from DRC, Fally Ipupa.
Having won the Best Female Act at the African version of the reward scheme called MTV Africa Music Award (MAMA) in 2014, this is the second time Tiwa is rocking the MTV red carpet
Delighted by her first-time experience in Bilbao, Tiwa simple said she loves the Spanish food, while also describing the award organization as ‘incredible’.
