“Youths Need To Get Priorities Straight” – Burna Boy Speaks Trending Issue Of Yahoo Boys

“I’m begging you! Please! Let us save ourselves. I don’t even like the internet because of the hopelessness for my people.”

Nigerian singer, Burna Boy has finally joined other Nigerians and celebrities in voicing their opinion on the trending issue of ‘Yahoo Boy’ in Nigeria.

For some weeks now, the Nigerian social media sphere has been debating whether internet scam popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo is an actual crime in the country.

The debate was sparked after Nigerian songstress, Simi asked Yahoo boys to stop listening to her songs and buying her CDs as she does not need their support.

Following Simi’s tweets, several Nigerians, as well as celebrities, began to react. Further debate was sparked when singer, Naira Marley shared his thoughts and said if the people know what slavery is about then they won’t think that Yahoo Yahoo is a crime.

Marley’s stance sparked further conversation as several more divided opinions were shared. While celebrities like Tunde Ednut and Ruggedman were quick to slam him for the statement, stars like Davido and Zlatan Ibile seemingly endorsed what he had to say.

Now, the latest celebrity to join in on the debate is music rave of the moment, Burna Boy. In his own reaction, the “Dangote” crooner stated that we all need to get our priorities straight as Nigeria has so many problems than giving support to internet fraudsters.

Burna Boy went on to say he would like to see Nigeria positioned at the same level of top nations in the world but this cannot be achieved if we don’t channel our energy right.

He also talked about how the human rights of innocent citizens are been trampled upon daily by the police.

He wrote:

“Nigeria my country. Please. Let us get our priorities straight. I want my children and grandchildren to see Nigeria the way we see the western world. We die every day in the hands of the police. We are robbed of our human rights daily, our recycled politicians don’t give a fuck about us. We have real-life issues that we need to channel our energy to. I’m begging you! Please! Let us save ourselves. I don’t even like the internet because of the hopelessness for my people. We are kings and queens, originators and creators, gods of the earth! Let’s stop bullshitting here please.”
