D’banj has sued his rape accuser, Seyitan Babatayo for N1.5 billion.

Popular Nigerian singer, D’Banj has sued Seyitan Babatayo for N1.5 billion, following rape allegation she made against him.

KanyiDaily recalls that on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, Seyitan narrated how Dbanj raped her during an all-white party in 2018, at Glee hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos State.

The 50-year-old singer has since then denied the rape allegations and asked his accuser to make a public apology published in four national dailies and also pay him the sum of N100 million in damages.

But due to the recent turn of events, Dbanj, through his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, has now asked Ms Babatayo to pay him N1.5 billion.

In the court filing, D’banj requested that his accuser pays him N1 billion to cover for the general damages that her actions have caused him.

“An order directing the defendant to pay the claimant, the sum of #1, 000,000,000.00 (One Billion Naira) only, representing general damages over the untold embarrassment, derision, public ridicule, odium, obloquy, marital disharmony, mental agony and psychological trauma which the defendant’s tweets and publication have caused the claimant,” the document read in part.

The award-winning singer also requested an additional N500 million, which he said represents the “aggravated, punitive, and exemplary damages” that he incurred.

D’banj requested the court to order Ms Babatayo to tender a letter of apology for the accusations directed at him, which he claimed has caused him “embarrassment, ridicule, derision, marital disharmony, mental agony, and psychological trauma.”

The singer also prayed the court to grant “an order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendant from further publishing, tweeting or posting offesnive libelous statements.”

Meanwhile,  Seyitan filled a filed a criminal complaint against Dbanj, alleging that the entertainer kidnapped and threatened her.
