‘How Can a Minimum-Wage Earner Survive This?’ — TG Omori Speaks on Kidney Treatment Costs

Nigerian music video director TG Omori has spoken about the heavy financial burden that came with his battle with kidney failure, revealing that regular dialysis can be far beyond the reach of many Nigerians.

Speaking during an interview on the Afropolitan podcast aired on September 23, 2026, Omori recalled the expenses he faced while receiving treatment and waiting for a kidney transplant.

He explained that dialysis costs vary from one hospital to another. According to him, some hospitals charge between N50,000 and N70,000 for a single session, while he paid considerably more at a private medical facility, where each session cost between N150,000 and N200,000.

Omori noted that the frequency of the treatment makes the financial burden even greater, as patients may need dialysis about three times every week.

Based on the figures he shared, weekly dialysis expenses could reach between N500,000 and N600,000, highlighting the enormous cost faced by patients who require regular treatment.

His account has drawn attention to the financial challenges associated with kidney failure treatment, particularly for people relying on low incomes.
