Man dies after engaging in a fight with Osun State Monarch’s palace guards.

A man identified as Suraju Alabi, aka ‘Taka’ has died after allegedly being beaten with charms during fight with some security men attached to the Akire of Ikire’s palace in Ikire, Osun State.

It was gathered that the deceased led a gang of hoodlums to the Akire palace around 1 pm on Sunday, and attack members of vigilante attached to the Akire palace in an attempt to release a suspect the team earlier arrested.

Punch reports that the security men resisted the mission and in the process, the deceased was beaten with charms and eventually died while on admission at hospital.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Osun Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed death of Alabi. Opalola saying:

“One Suraju Alabi had led a gang of the hoodlums to the palace of Akire of Ikire to forcefully release a suspect arrested by the vigilantes attached to the palace.

“The rescue mission was resisted by the vigilantes and a fracas ensued. Consequently, both parties sustained bodily injuries and taken to different hospitals for treatment. Suraju later died in the Catholic Hospital, Apomu.”

Security personnel and men of Amotekun corps, were later deployed in the town after the incident to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

KanyiDaily had also reported how a 65-year-old man, Ibrahim Ajayi Allah, who retired from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), was gruesomely murdered like a goat by his friend.
