The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo has revealed that his driver, Yohanna Shankuk, his driver was killed during the ongoing protest against the extrajudicial activities of the now-defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Abuja.
Keyamo, who disclosed this on his Twitter page, said Shankuk was walking to his (Keyamo’s) office on Wednesday when a vehicle taking a one-way lane ran him over at Berger roundabout in Abuja.
“I regret to announce that my driver, Mr. Yohanna Shankuk, died yesterday in Abuja as a result of the protests,” Keyamo wrote.
“A vehicle that saw advancing protesters at Berger roundabout, made a U-turn, took the one-way back and ran over him as he was making his way on foot to my private office.”
KanyiDaily had reported that there is an ongoing nationwide #EndSARS protest against the SARS tactical unit of the Nigerian Police Force over its brutality, illegal arrest, extortion, extra-judicial killings, among others.
