Six-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Rαped To Death, Body Dumped In A Cemetery In Kaduna State

A yet-to-be identified person has allegedly raped a six-year-old girl, Aisha Ya’u Ibrahim, to death and dumped her corpse in a cemetery in Kurmin Mashi Area of Kaduna state.

A neighbour who craved anonymity revealed that the girl returned from Islamiyya (school) on Sunday around 11 am, changed into her playing clothes and went out to play in the neighbourhood until a few hours later when her mother discovered that she was missing.

The source said that Aisha’s mother raised alarm of her missing daughter an hour after she was no where to be found, calling on neighbors to assist in search for her.

“The search which started around 11:30 AM and lasted till evening. It was a man who was retiring from farm who discovered Aisha’s corpse dumped in the cemetery close to their home.

“She was raped and dumped there by a yet to be identified person… Now they have taken her corpse to Barau Diko Specialist Hospital for autopsy,” he said.

The incident was said to have thrown residents of Kurmin Mashi into palpable tension as several sexual molestation of minors have been reported in the area of recent.

However, the Police spokesman for the Command, ASP Muhammed Jalige, who confirmed the development, said it was early to attribute the cause of her death to defilement.

Jalige added that Police had already gone to a Magistrate Court to sign a coroner form which would enable the hospital to carry out series of examination on the remains of the girl.

“The Police is trying to get a form called coroner form signed by a Magistrate Court. This is a form that will enable the hospital to examine the girl. After the examination, the hospital can then release the corpse to the parents for burial,” he said.
