The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has distanced itself from the the misleading claim of Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, that COVID-19 vaccines are “meant to kill”.
KanyiDaily recalls that Governor Bello had in a viral video condemned the use of the COVID-19 vaccine, saying it is meant to kill people.
Reacting in a statement after the forum’s virtual meeting on Thursday, Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, who doubles as the NGF chairman, described Bello’s misleading statement as an “ill-fated pronouncement”.
“On the ill-fated pronouncement made by a member of the forum regarding the COVID-19 vaccine in a national daily, the forum totally and categorically dissociated itself from the statement,” the statement reads.
“The forum emphasised that it will continue to be informed and guided by science and will ensure that every decision it takes will help retains public and professional trust and is not compromised by conflicts of interest.”
The NGF also announced that Nigeria has been selected among 12 African nations that will benefit from the first shipment of COVID-19 vaccines for developing countries by the end of February.
Meanwhile, plan are being made for President Buhari, Osinbajo, SGF Mustapha and other prominent Nigerians to receive the COVID-19 vaccine on live television.
KanyiDaily recalls that Nigerian Governors had also announced that they will take the Covid-19 vaccine on live television to show the citizens that the vaccine will work.
