GADFAN Demands Arrest Of Sunday Igboho, Compensation For Sarkin Fulani In Oyo

The Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria (GADFAN) has demanded compensation for the Sarkin Fulani of Igangan, Alhaji Salihu AbdulKadir and arrest of the Yoruba rights activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called ‘Sunday Igboho.’

The Abuja-based group made the demand in a statement signed by its National Chairman, Alhaji Sulaiman Yakubu and National Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi.

GADFAN had urged both the federal and Oyo State governments to ensure the return of the displaced Sarkin Fulani to Igangan in Ibarapa North Local Council of Oyo State.

The group also asked the government to compensate the Sarkin Fulani and his people for all the losses during the alleged attack on their settlement.

It also demanded the prosecution of Sunday Igboho and others involved in the alleged unleashing of violence, as well as the destruction of property.

“To our greatest surprise and dismay, up till this moment, Sunday Igboho is moving freely as if nothing has happened,” the statement reads.

“The GADFAN, therefore, calls on the federal and Oyo state governments to ensure that justice is done to Alhaji Salihu AbdulKadir and his people by way of not only ensuring that Igboho and his boys are apprehended and brought to book, but that Sarkin Fulani and his people be compensated and returned to their homes.

“The attack led to the burning and total destruction of all his (Sarkin Fulani Igangan) houses, household items and his animals that include cows, sheep, goats, turkeys, a school, shops and a mosque; all worth over N500m.”

It vowed to explore all peaceful and legal means to ensure that justice was done to all parties, adding that, “We are already in consultation with our lawyers and we will soon take all the necessary legal steps if nothing is done by the relevant authorities to address the issue.”

KanyiDaily recalls that some weeks ago, three suspected Fulani herdsmen were caught invading the residence of Igboho’s mother in Oyo State.
