Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has declared the National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba, and other protesters wanted.
In a tweet on Tuesday morning, May 18, El-Rufai said that Wabba and the other protesters were wanted for economic sabotage and attacks on public infrastructure.
The governor also placed a bounty on the NLC president and other protesters, saying that there would be a ‘handsome reward’ for anyone who knew their whereabouts.
“Ayuba Wabba & others of @NLCHeadquarter declared wanted for economic sabotage & attacks on public infrastructure under Miscellaneous Offences Act.
“Anyone that knows where he is hiding should send a message to @MOJKaduna. KDSG. There will be a handsome reward,” he wrote.
KanyiDaily recalls that Wabba had led members of the labour union in a protest in Kaduna over the decision of Governor El-Rufai to disengage thousand of workers across the state.
The labour union marched around with banners, one of them read: “Hell Rufai, stop poverty, hunger and insecurity. Stop the mass sack. Respect workers and human rights.”
According to Webba, th protest which began with a five-day warning strike on Monday, is for the government to reverse its decision and recall the sacked workers.
