Seun Kuti Raises Middle Finger, Walks Out On Governor Sanwo-Olu At Yeni Kuti’s Birthday [Video]

Seun Kuti, the youngest child of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, was alleged to have raised his middle fingers and walked out on Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, during the 60th birthday of his elder sister, Yeni Kuti.

Yeni Kuti celebrated her 60th birthday on Sunday and the event was graced by family, friends, fans and prominent figures including Governor Sanwo-Olu.

However, a video trending online circulating on the social media shows the moment Seun Kuti walked out on Governor Sanwo-Olu during the event which was held at the New Afrika Shrine.

According to HipTV, Seun Kuti was infuriated by Sanwo-Olu’s presence at the event and he showed the governor a ‘middle finger’ before walking out on him in the presence of his siblings.

He was said to have been brought back into the venue by his elder brother, Femi Kuti, who was said to have calmed him down to prevent the issue from escalating.

But reacting to the development, Yeni denied that Seun insulted Sanwo-Olu, noting that her brother’s anger was directed at the security detail, not the governor.

According to Yeni, her brother had no disagreement with Sanwo-Olu, although he was angry because a security official attached to the governor pushed Yetunde, his wife.

“What happened was that the security detail in the course of doing their duty pushed his wife. He got upset at them understandably so, not the Governor. He even explained to the governor. I beg o! He has home training. @RealSeunKuti,” she tweeted.

During a phone chat with The Punch, Yeni also stressed that the incident was blown out of proportion and she tagged the reports going around social media as fake news.

“People just like to sell fake news. I have already tweeted what happened. Seun’s wife was moving past the governor’s table and his security detail stopped her; the way they do, overzealous security people and Seun got angry.

“Everything has been settled because, after the episode, Seun spoke with the governor. It is just fake news and they just want to spoil my birthday,” she said.

Jubril Gawat, senior special assistant to Sanwo-Olu, also dismissed the claim by sharing a photo of the govenor and Seun Kuti smiling while having a discussion at the event.

KanyiDaily recalls that Seun Kuti was recently accused of pulling out a gun at some individuals during an argument over a parking space around his place of residence in Ikeja, Lagos State.
